Roles

SANION has five roles, introduced in the order a product travels from design to the field.

  1. 01

    Development

    HW · FW · SW

    Develops the embedded hardware, firmware and application software of IEDs and substation automation devices. The team designs boards on 8/16/32-bit CPUs, PowerPC and DSP with analogue circuitry, and covers every software layer a product needs: real-time OS and network programming, C++/MFC applications, servers (HTTP, XML-RPC) and Java applications.

    Electrical, electronic, computer or control engineering (college degree or higher; new graduates and experienced welcome)
    Key competencies
    • Experience in HW design or FW/SW implementation preferred
    • Ability to read schematics and datasheets and to debug
    • Understanding of embedded systems and communication protocols

  2. 02

    R&D engineering

    Power systems · Power electronics

    Researches software for monitoring, measurement and protection devices, protection relay testing and power-conversion control. Protection algorithms are implemented and verified on test equipment, with HW/SW engineers from the power-system and power-electronics fields working side by side.

    Relevant majors
    Electrical, electronic, power-electronics or computer engineering (bachelor's degree or higher)
    Key competencies
    • 2+ years in monitoring/measurement/protection software or protection relay testing (experienced hires)
    • Power-conversion HW design, control SW or analysis PC SW experience preferred
    • Understanding of power system protection and IEC 61850

  3. 03

    Design engineering

    Protection · Control · Switchgear panels

    Responsible for the electrical design of protection, control and switchgear panels. From customer specifications and single-line diagrams, the team designs the circuits and wiring of protection panels, control and monitoring systems, switchgear and distribution boards, working closely with the workshops at Incheon HQ and the Naju plant.

    Key competencies
    • New graduate or 3+ years of experience
    • Panel design experience and electrical licences preferred
    • Driving licence (site visits)

  4. 04

    Quality

    Production · Factory tests · Commissioning

    Covers production management, quality control and after-sales service. The team inspects and tests products before shipment, supports grid-integration tests and protection coordination on site, and answers field enquiries after delivery.

    • Understanding of basic electrical and electronic circuits
    • Careful execution and recording of test procedures

  5. 05

    Technical sales

    IEDs · Systems · Communication equipment

    Handles technical sales of IEDs, systems and communication equipment. The team identifies the needs of KEPCO, power producers and plant customers, proposes products and specifications, and communicates with customers from a technical standpoint from quotation through order and delivery.

    • New graduate or 5+ years of experience
    • Understanding of power equipment and protection relay products
    • Good communication with customers; driving licence
